All out for March 8th!

8th of March is the international women’s day. For decades we have been taking to the streets on this day to make visible our experiences and the social ills we face every day. We experience violence in families and partnerships. We are harassed at work, among friends and in public. Because of our gender, we are treated worse or not recognized at all. Our work is paid less, made invisible and devalued. In Germany and internationally.

We are women, lesbians, non-binary, trans and inter persons (FLINT*) and we are part of an international movement. In recent years alone, this movement has brought millions of people onto the streets from Poland to Argentina, from New York to Hong Kong, from Spain to Nigeria.

Also here in Lüneburg we call on you to make the manifold feminist struggles visible. We also invite all FLINT* to strike with us on March 8th to make our work visible. How this can look like you can read here: https://fstreikhamburg.org/streiken/

Because without us the world stands still!

If you need translation, child care and/or the assumption of (travel) costs, or any other kind of support, please feel free to write an email!

Events behind which the term FLINT* appears are explicitly for FLINT* persons only. Cis-men are welcome to participate in all other events. Cis-men are also invited to participate in the run-up to the event, for example by providing food, childcare, posters… (register at 83supportlg@riseup.net). Cis-men are the men who were already classified as men at birth and who also identify with it. Trans-men are also men, but they do not have the same privileges, but experience oppression.

What are FLINT* ?

FLINT* is short for women, lesbian, inter, non-binary, trans. We want to mark with the * that the term is not complete and can be extended.

FrauenLesben makes it clear that not all women are heterosexual, i.e. they are not all into men! And that lesbians have always been part of women’s groups.

Inter: “The term intersexuality refers to biological characteristics of gender differentiation. Intersexual bodies therefore have characteristics of both the female and male sex.” (https://www.im-ev.de/intersexualitaet/)

Non-binary: describes persons who are located outside the bisexuality (man/woman).

Trans is Latin for beyond. Trans describes persons whose gender is beyond the gender that was assigned at birth. For example, a woman at whose birth the doctor said: “You are a boy”, which she is not.
